Fix It! Feature - CORS and Console Error Fixes

Issues Fixed

1. CORS Error - X-GitHub-Token Header Blocked ✅

Error:

Access to fetch at 'http://localhost:7007/api/claude-flow/branches/next-name'
from origin 'http://localhost:3001' has been blocked by CORS policy:
Request header field x-github-token is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Headers
in preflight response.

Root Cause: Backend router didn't allow the custom X-GitHub-Token header in CORS configuration.

Fix: Added CORS middleware to allow the custom header.

File: plugins/claude-flow-backend/src/router.ts

Changes:

// CORS middleware to allow X-GitHub-Token header
router.use((req, res, next) => {
res.header('Access-Control-Allow-Origin', '*');
res.header('Access-Control-Allow-Methods', 'GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, OPTIONS');
res.header('Access-Control-Allow-Headers',
'Origin, X-Requested-With, Content-Type, Accept, Authorization, X-GitHub-Token');

// Handle preflight requests
if (req.method === 'OPTIONS') {
res.sendStatus(200);
return;
}

next();
});

Why This Works:

  • Access-Control-Allow-Headers now includes X-GitHub-Token
  • Preflight OPTIONS requests return 200 immediately
  • Actual requests proceed with proper CORS headers

2. Config Visibility Warning ✅

Error:

Failed to read configuration value at
'catalog.providers.github.providerId.organization'
as it is not visible.

Root Cause: Config value accessed without proper error handling, and config may not be marked as visible.

Fix: Added try-catch block and return empty string if config not available.

File: packages/app/src/components/github/GithubRepositories.tsx

Changes:

const getDefaultOrg = () => {
try {
// First try the GitHub provider config
let defaultOrg = configApi.getOptionalString(
'catalog.providers.github.providerId.organization'
);

if (!defaultOrg) {
// Try to get from githubOrg configuration
const githubOrgList = configApi.getOptionalStringArray(
'catalog.providers.githubOrg.orgs'
);
if (githubOrgList && githubOrgList.length > 0) {
defaultOrg = githubOrgList[0];
}
}

return defaultOrg || ''; // Return empty string if no config found
} catch (err) {
// Config value not visible or doesn't exist, return empty string
return '';
}
};

Why This Works:

  • Try-catch prevents console warnings
  • Returns empty string instead of hardcoded fallback
  • Works whether config is visible or not

3. SelectInput Out-of-Range Value Warning ✅

Error:

Material-UI: You have provided an out-of-range value `badal-io`
for the select component.
Consider providing a value that matches one of the available options or ''.
The available values are "".

Root Cause: Selected organization was set to a value not in the available options list.

Fix: Ensure selected org is always in the organizations list.

File: packages/app/src/components/github/GithubRepositories.tsx

Changes:

// Build organization list
const orgList: string[] = [];

// Add user's personal account first
orgList.push(user.login);

// Add configured org if it exists in user's orgs and is not already added
if (configuredOrg && orgNames.includes(configuredOrg) && !orgList.includes(configuredOrg)) {
orgList.splice(0, 0, configuredOrg); // Add at beginning
}

// Add remaining orgs
orgNames.forEach(org => {
if (!orgList.includes(org)) {
orgList.push(org);
}
});

setOrganizations(orgList);

// Set initial selected org - prefer configured org if in list, otherwise user's personal account
if (configuredOrg && orgList.includes(configuredOrg)) {
setSelectedOrg(configuredOrg);
} else if (orgList.length > 0) {
setSelectedOrg(orgList[0]); // First org in list (user's account)
} else {
setSelectedOrg(user.login);
}

Why This Works:

  • Only sets selectedOrg to values that exist in organizations list
  • Falls back to user's personal account if configured org not available
  • No duplicates in organization list

4. GitHub API 409 Conflict (Informational)

Error:

api.github.com/repos/badal-io/claude-code-test/commits?author=liamhelmer&per_page=1:1
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 409 ()

Note: This is a GitHub API response for a specific repository query, not related to the Fix It! feature. This occurs when:

  • Repository is empty/has no commits
  • Author filter returns no results
  • Repository is in a conflicted state

No fix needed - this is handled gracefully by the code and doesn't affect functionality.

Testing Performed

✅ CORS Fix Verification

  1. Open browser DevTools Network tab
  2. Click "Fix It!" on any PR
  3. Verify no CORS errors in console
  4. Verify API calls succeed with 200 status

✅ Console Warnings Fixed

  1. Open browser console
  2. Navigate to GitHub Repositories page
  3. Verify no config visibility warnings
  4. Verify no SelectInput warnings
  5. Console should be clean

✅ Fix It! Functionality

  1. Click "Fix It!" on a PR
  2. Dialog opens successfully
  3. Branch name computes without errors
  4. Can create new branch
  5. Navigates to session creation successfully

Additional Notes

CORS Security

The current CORS configuration allows all origins (*). For production, you may want to restrict this:

// Production recommendation:
res.header('Access-Control-Allow-Origin', process.env.FRONTEND_URL || 'http://localhost:3001');

Config Visibility

To make the config value visible, add to app-config.yaml:

catalog:
providers:
github:
providerId:
organization: badal-io

Or mark it as visible in schema if using frontend config.

GitHub API Rate Limiting

The 409 errors may indicate hitting GitHub API rate limits. Consider:

  • Implementing request caching
  • Using conditional requests with ETags
  • Increasing rate limit with GitHub App authentication
